Whether heading out for spring break, dreaming up pool parties, or planning summer vacations- it's never too early to start sewing a swim wardrobe! Little Lizard King has a variety of patterns for children and adults which makes it easy to outfit the whole family for some fun in the sun.

Deanna and Michelle had the pleasure of sewing Cate and Rainn's spring collection "Claire Bright Floral" to create sweet swim looks for their girls. This collection offers a lovely variety of floral and butterfly prints with the perfect mix of colors that go seamlessly from spring to summer. Bethany, the artist behind Cate and Rainn, said that she went a little out of her comfort zone when designing the color palette for this collection, and we are so glad she did! She hopes that the bright colors and hand-drawn elements add a bit of a whimsical touch and bring a smile to those using the designs.

One of the absolute best things about Cate and Rainn's collections is that they often include several coordinates including stripes, dots, ginghams, and other neutrals. This makes it so easy to mix and match to create multi-piece looks.

Michelle chose to sew the beginner friendly Antibes two-piece swimsuit pattern using the Floral and Multistripe designs printed on the swim fabric base from Carriage House Printery. The Yellow Polka Dot print was used to create the simple version of the Waikiki swim cover up using the French Terry with Lycra base. This fabric base has the perfect amount of stretch for comfortable wear and adds a bit of absorbency to keep little bodies dry between trips to the water.

Michelle finished off her Waikiki by adding the optional pockets which are perfect for collecting sea shells and other treasures of the ocean.

Deanna sewed up the one-piece version of the Maui swimsuit with puff sleeves and leg flutters using the Floral and Pink Polka Dot prints.

The Multi-stripe design was the perfect print for the ruffle skirt option of Waikiki- using a different orientation of the stripes between the skirt and ruffle for a fun and unique look. The partial zipper option is so easy for little ones to get on and off themselves and is bound to get plenty of use this swim season!

All fabrics used in today's blog were printed at Carriage House Printery. CHP offers prints from many talented designers including Cate and Rainn. They allow the ability to print on several different fabric bases including swim and board short material for swimsuits, french terry for cover ups, canvas for coordinating swim totes and even matching towels to complete an entire swim ensemble from head to toe.
