Princeton & Willow in From the Heart

Anyone else love Valentine’s Day as much as me, but hate the fact that it is freezing where you live, so the cutesy summer outfits are totally out of the question?  Every time I think about sewing for Valentine’s, I immediately think of some version of a sleeveless dress, but it’s totally out of the question this time of year.

Knowing my dreams of a sweet summer dress wouldn’t come to fruition, I thumbed through my trusted winter-friendly patterns and decided Princeton and Willow would be perfect. I immediately decided I needed a vintage inspired fabric to accentuate the vintage vibe  of the patterns.  I also knew I wanted to embellish Princeton with the recently released Roseville embroidery, so not just any fabric would do.

While on my search for fabric I found From the Heart by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs and immediately fell in love.  Featuring a traditional red and white color scheme with telephones, typewriters, flowers, hearts and stamps this fabric collection has the perfect vintage vibe.

Princeton, designed for woven fabric, includes a dress and top version. With the V-shaped bodice feature, Princeton perfectly frames the Roseville embroidery pattern collar option.  This pattern includes sleeveless, flounce ¾ and long sleeve options with a vintage length hem as well a loop and button closure in the back. With the flared fit of Princeton it really fit the vintage feel that inspired this outfit. Princeton was sewn in From the Heart Main Cream for Riley Blake.

Willow, which was designed for woven fabric, includes a shorts and pants option.  The pants version has a flare leg styling, which again fit the vintage feel that inspired this entire outfit.  This pattern features a flat front waistband and elasticized back waistband as well as an optional button tab detailing.  Willow was sewn in From the Heart Plaid Red for Riley Blake.

Warm wishes for a Happy Valentine’s Day. We hope you celebrate it by doing all the things you love.
